Visit local sites to see historic preservation in action! Tours require standing and walking. The length of each tour is noted in their individual descriptions. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Participants will need to secure their own transportation to the tour site.

June 9: Visit Bowers Farm

This Bloomfield Hills Schools outdoor learning center is home to the 1830 Craig Log Cabin, 1832 Barton Farmhouse, and countless farm animals, so yes, you get to see historic houses AND pet some animals (scroll down to register).

July 7: Detroit’s Midtown including the West Canfield Historic District

This dynamic neighborhood tells Detroit’s history from the French ribbon farms to the early days of the automotive industry and leads the way in the city’s historic preservation efforts (scroll down to register).

August 11: Palmer Park Log Cabin

Location: Merrill Plaisance St, between 2nd & 3rd, Detroit, MI 48203
(Limit 25 guests, 1.5-hour tour)
Set in a park designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, this Victorian Log Cabin is in the midst of preservation and is only open on limited occasions. You must sign a safety waver to participate (scroll down to register).
