We will be tying knots for one of our activities, so this youth program is geared towards ages 8 and up.
Shake your winter blues and join us for a day of getting crafty! The Village has a slew of crafts at the ready to put your skills to the test or teach you some new ones. Tie some knots on a rag doll, try your hand at knitting or spinning, make a toy, and print a poster on a printing press! Select from two time slots (10am OR 1pm), and you can expect to be here for two hours.
This event is held rain, snow, or shine, so please dress for the weather! All activities take place inside buildings, but you will need to walk outside to get from one building to another. Scroll down to register or click here.
For accessibility information, please contact us at info@thvmail.org, or call us at the Village 248-524-3570.
What to Expect
When you arrive, please check in inside the main building (large, red brick building facing Wattles). The program will begin promptly at your scheduled start time, so be sure to arrive early enough to park and walk inside. Families will visit each of the four craft stations around the Village, spending about 30 minutes at each station. Each participant will get to take their crafts home! After your craft-making time, you are welcome to walk around and look at other Village buildings.
At the end of your program, you will exit through the gate on the side of the main building. We will have green signs to help direct your path.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to bring my own supplies? No! All supplies are included with registration payment.
- Do I need to bring a bag to collect my crafts? We will have brown paper bags with handles for you to collect all your goodies! If you would prefer a different mode of transportation, please feel free to bring it.
- Why do adults pay if they are not participating in the program? While adults are not participating in the program, they are still visiting the Village, so their registration fee covers the cost of admission.
- My older child wants to participate, but I have children under the recommend age. Can I still bring them? Yes! Children 5 and under admission to the Village is free. For younger siblings, some simple crafts, coloring pages, and activities will be available for them as the Drop-in Crafty Day crafts may be too advanced for children under 7. Children ages 6 to 7 can participate with adult assistance.
- Can I bring a stroller or a wagon? Yes! We have a paved sidewalk throughout the Village. You are welcome to take the strollers and wagons inside the buildings (each one has a ramp entrance), and we ask that you are mindful about the spaces inside when driving the stroller or wagon through.
- Can I bring my dog? Only service animals are allowed at the Village. We strive to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so please leave your pets at home.
- How long does it take to go through the event? The Drop-in Craft Day program will take two hours.
- Do you have quiet spaces to go if one of my group members needs a sensory break? Yes! Inside the Caswell House on the main floor or upstairs at the Parsonage. You can also ask us when you arrive - THV Staff and volunteers are ready and prepared to try and help accommodate your needs!
- Is food available to purchase? No, we do not sell food. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and water to enjoy in designated spaces. Please note we are a peanut free facility.
