“History Makers” are not just famous political or military leaders with long beards who lived over a century ago. Nor are they limited to inventors and Noble Prize winners. “History Makers” are people in our own communities who confront issues in innovative ways. They challenge themselves and those around them to think and act differently. To a History Maker, “we’ve always done it this way” is an excuse, not a reason.

A study commissioned by the Michigan Municipal League confirmed that creative communities are built on a foundation of

  • Visionary Thinking
  • Ethnic and Cultural Diversity
  • Business & Philanthropy
  • Health & Fitness
  • Art & Culture
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Education

History Makers are men and women who are leaders in one of these key areas.
