Experience the metaphoric and literal threads that weave us together as a nation of immigrants. Our two week quilt exhibit features 100+ vintage, modern, local and international works of textile art, plus kids’ activities and workshops for grown-ups. Threads theatre is a 50-minute play that will lead you through Village buildings as you enjoy dramatized versions of true stories of Troy residents, past and present.
Workshop is included with Quilt Exhibit admission. No registration required.
Quilting Goes Green
Thursday August 3, 11:00am – 12:00pm
Throughout history quilting has been a way to pass down traditions and a fixture of female creative expression. A quilt could be a shroud for a Civil War solider, a cheery outlet during the Depression, and in our era of excess, it can be a way to reuse and recycle. Learn to upcycle cotton dress shirts into a one-of-a-kind quilt. Karen Keller of Patchwork Earth will show you how to fit eco-friendly quilting into your repertoire. Program takes place in air-conditioned Old Troy Church.
